A brief report on Health Aide Course at St. Mary’s School of Nursing and way forward:

Transformation! Transformation! Transformation!

“From innocence to Spiritual, Educational, Physical, Social, Economic development and with opportunities ”.

Name of the Course:  Girl Child Empowerment – Health Aide Course

Purpose of the Course:  Empowering the girl child toward Self-reliance

Duration of the course:  6 months

Background of the girl (Focus community)

From rural communities, poor financial background, illiterate parents.
Most of the girl children are high school drop outs. Then to survive in the family they have to bring some amounts, not to become a burden to their family. So they go as Agricultural laborers, Red Chillies fields to pick out, working in cotton fields, Servant maids.

Methodology: We train them up in theory followed by practical work, conducting examination, evaluating and encourage them for excellence. A typical day at Nursing School starts with a prayer at Chapel followed by breakfast. The students attend their theory classes. As allocated, they attend their hospital duty for practical work. And in the evening, gather at theory class to summarize their learning. We also provide opportunities to participate in Pulse polio program, Rural Health Clinics, Hospital outreach camps. AIDS day rally, and other health related camps organized by Government, Rotary Club, for exposure and experience.
